Hace poco salió un artículo en El Universal (México) comentado unas pistas sobre como planificar para la financiación de su máster.

“Actualmente la educación superior tiene un costo elevado por lo que si quieres continuar tu preparación con una maestría o diplomado, especialmente en el exterior, debes hacer una muy buena planeación. Como en convocatorias anteriores, la Fundación “la Caixa” convoca 100 becas de movilidad para cursar estudios de másteres oficiales en España, IE incluido, durante el curso 2012-2013.  Es requisito previo que los estudiantes, de nacionalidad española, sean graduados o licenciados universitarios y que el curso del programa implique un cambio de universidad o de residencia así como dedicación a tiempo completo.

Estas becas sólo están disponibles para programas a tiempo completo y su dotación abarca cuanto sigue:

-          Matrícula del máster, sin límite del importe.
-          Dotación de 1.300 euros mensuales.
-          Dotación única inicial de 1.000 euros para cubrir gastos de desplazamiento e instalación.

Todas las solicitudes deben remitirse antes del 5 de marzo de 2012 a través de http://obrasocial.lacaixa.es/ambitos/becas/espana_es.html. Cabe destacar que el envío de solicitudes es posible aun cuando no se esté todavía admitido al programa de estudios que se desea cursar. Basta con recibir la admisión en el año en curso. Por ello, a los estudiantes que deseen cursar programas IE no se les requerirá la presentación de ninguna carta de admisión o de matrícula, simplemente un pdf informativo donde se describan los detalles del máster. Estos pdf pueden descargarse directamente desde www.ie.edu.

La Comisión Ejecutiva del Banco de España, en su sesión del día 15 de diciembre de 2011, tomó el acuerdo de convocar un concurso para la concesión de cinco (5) becas, cuyo objeto es proporcionar ayuda financiera para la ampliación de estudios en el extranjero y titulaciones de másteres oficiales en España durante el curso académico 2012-2013. Estas cinco becas se destinarán a financiar la ampliación de estudios en el extranjero o en España, sobre temas de economía, en especial sobre cuestiones relativas a teoría macro y microeconómica, economía monetaria y financiera, economía internacional y econometría.

Dotación y devengos

Para el curso académico 202-2013, las becas de ampliación de estudios estarán dotadas con 20.000 euros brutos si son en el extranjero, y 15.000 euros brutos si son en España, que se abonarán en tres pagos. El primero de ellos se hará efectivo al comienzo del curso académico, mientras que los otros dos se harán efectivos en los meses de enero y abril. Los becarios que amplíen estudios en países no miembros de la Unión Monetaria Europea percibirán el contravalor de la cantidad citada en la moneda del país de destino, al cambio del día en que la Comisión Ejecutiva acordó la presente convocatoria.

Solicitud y plazo de presentación

Toda la documentación descrita en http://www.bde.es/webbde/es/secciones/convoca/be/becaybe.html debe ser remitida a rho.investigacion-becas@bde.es antes de las 14 horas del 17 de febrero de 2012. Nótese que si bien es preferible la presentación del certificado de admisión de IE, el Banco de España admitirá a trámite las solicitudes de beca de aquellos candidatos que aún estén realizando el proceso de admisión.

A través del Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE), el Gobierno ha vuelto a ofrecer los préstamos renta universidad del Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO). Para saber más acerca de la convocatoria de estos créditos de condiciones muy ventajosas, deberá ver el BOE del 3 de diciembre haciendo clic aquí.

3) Página 129036: Artículo 4, punto 4 sobre el plazo para solicitar el crédito (1 de febrero al 30 de mayo, 2012).

In recent article that appeared in Poets and Quants, a source of reference for candidates considering following a master program at the world’s top schools, talked about the current scholarship offerings being made available by top schools:

“Among the top 20 MBA programs in the U.S., at least four schools–Yale, Harvard, Northwestern, and UCLA–have increased their average scholarship pay outs to students by more than 100% since the 2004-2005 academic year Yale upped its average scholarship by 150% to $25,000 last year from only $10,000 in 2005, while Harvard increased its average scholarships to MBA candidates by 146% to $28,410 from $11,543 five years ago…”

Approximately 40% of the incoming class of master students at IE come with financial assistance provided by IE.

Two IE Fellows who supported IE professor and researcher Dr. Monika Hamori (see professional profile here) can now say the work they contributed to as fellows was published by Harvard Business Manager (see HBM publication profile at Spiegel QC here), the German-language version of the Harvard Business Review.  The article, “Highly-skilled, early-career professionals: Five facts that every employer should know“, reviewed research findings on how to manage Generation Y professionals.

Congratulations to both Niels Siskens and Sergey Gorbatov, both graduates of the International MBA at IE Business School, and to Dr. Hamori on her continued publishing activities.

IE’s Moscow Office Director, Ms. Irina Polovneva, is currently leading IE Business School’s collaboration with the organizers of the Changellenge Competition (http://changellenge.com/), scheduled to take place since November 20th with the final on December 12th. Ms. Polovneva says that “IE’s collaboration on this project means we’ll meet some of Russia’s best and brightest future leaders, and so it’s a great chance to meet potential students for IE Business School’s Master in International Management program.”

IE Business School will be participating in the Changellenge Competition in several ways. In addition to Dr. David Bach’s Master Class on Strategy Beyond the Market, IE Business School will be meeting with semi-finalists and top contestants at invite-only events to learn more about their professional objectives and their potential to come to IE Business School for master-level study. As part of IE’s commitment to the Changellenge Competition, two candidates who’ve managed to show top results throughout the competition and who’ve obtained admissions to IE Business School, will be awarded a sizeable scholarship. There is one scholarship of 30% of tuition fees, and a second of 50% of tuition fees.

Competition contestants who will be participating in the Changellenge Competition and who wish to be considered for one of the scholarships, must have submitted to their admissions application to IE Business School no later than 10 March, 2011. A recent article in the Financial Times talks about the importance of helping women reach the C-suite, and eventually the Executive Board.  The author, Forté Foundation Executive Director Elissa Sangster writes:

“A number of things could be done to influence these various inflection points in a woman’s pre-MBA career path: educating and motivating women to pursue internships and majors beyond liberal arts, educating campus advisers to relay the value of an MBA to women, and steering women to resources to help them plan their college experience to better prepare for career success. Companies and organisations could offer financial incentives and support to women to relocate with their family, or significant other, to pursue a full-time MBA.”

With respect to providing financial incentives, IE Business School is now providing 3 annual scholarships for top women candidates who obtain admissions to IE Business School’s MBA or Master in Management programs.
