US News: How to Fund Your MBA

Bloomberg Article on Sallie Mae

Having started as a state-backed enterprise in the US, this lending institution has been fully privatized since 2004 and only makes private loans since 2010.

“The student loan company SLM (SLM), better known as Sallie Mae, has taken a thrashing in recent years. In 2007, Sallie Mae’s stock fell from $58 to $19.65 a share in the wake of a failed buyout attempt led by private equity firm J.C. Flowers. Shares sank as low as $3.19 in March 2009 amid the financial crisis, which froze the debt markets it relies on for funding. Last year, Congress passed legislation that knocked private lenders out of the business of making government-backed student loans, which had accounted for 80 percent of Sallie Mae’s lending… Read More

  • Los candidatos deben realizar un caso práctico sobre derechos de autor en su empresa

IE Business School y el Centro Español de Derechos Reprográficos (CEDRO) convocan el nuevo Programa de Becas CEDRO-IE 2011 para profesionales que quieran cursar un master en la escuela de negocios. Con esta iniciativa ambas instituciones distinguen a las organizaciones que, dentro de su política de RSC, respetan los derechos de propiedad intelectual de autores y editores de libros y otras publicaciones.

Este programa dispone de 6 becas parciales, 2 para la realización del programa Executive MBA, en cualquiera de sus formatos, dotadas con 9.000 euros cada una; y 4 becas para masters especializados dotadas con 5.000 euros cada una.

Los profesionales que quieran optar a estas becas deberán elaborar un caso práctico individual sobre el tema “Los derechos de autor en tu empresa”, en el que explicarán el beneficio que reporta a las empresas respetar los derechos de autor y cómo la licencia de reutilización de contenidos de libros y otro tipo de publicaciones les ayuda a cumplir con las leyes de propiedad intelectual en España. Los candidatos deben trabajar en empresas que cuenten con esta licencia o tengan previsto obtenerla. El mejor trabajo seleccionado se presentará el próximo mes de noviembre en el Social Reponsability Forum del IE como modelo práctico de RSC. El plazo de entrega finaliza el 30 de julio de 2011.

OPORTUNIDAD BECAS OEA-IE: CONVOCATORIA OTOÑO 2011 ABIERTO!

Las becas OEA/IE son ofrecidas por la Fundación IE en España y la OEA en Washington a aquellos candidatos que quieren estudiar un programa Máster en IE y cubren entre un 30% y un 40% de la matrícula. Las becas se otorgarán a los candidatos interesados en realizar uno de los 9 programas de máster ofrecidos por IE en el curso 2011-2012. Tras completar sus estudios los becarios también tendrán la posibilidad de realizar prácticas en la OEA. Más información en la web de Financial Aid (www.ie.edu/financialaid).  La fecha límite para solicitar admisión al programa y para postular a la beca es el: 10 de junio de 2011.

Scholarship recipients also have possibility of doing an internship within the OAS upon completion of their Master program.
