In early 2013 IE´s School of Social & Behavioral Science, in partnership with IE Executive Education, will be launching an exciting new program developed specifically for experienced executives interested in achieving outstanding business results through transformational leadership. By gaining a deep understanding of the hard science in positive psychology and human behavior, participants learn how to optimize overall strategy, functional processes, and organizational design to achieve optimal performance in themselves and the people they lead.

As part of the launch of the program, and for this first intake only, alumni of IE Business School Executive Education’s Top Management Programs are eligible for a 25% grant towards the program tuition fees, upon obtaining admissions to the program.  That’s an award of 11.250€ for graduates of our AMP (all formats), SMP, OEMP, PGEF, TBL, VMP and GSMP programs.  For more information on how to apply for the Executive Master program and benefit from this special grant offering, please contact the Admissions team for the Executive Master in Positive Leadership and Strategy at exmpls.admissions@ie.edu.

We recently got a question from an Executive MBA candidate who while an excellent profile, is finding it very difficult to pool together the funds needed to start his program at IE this Fall.  After having read through the IE Financial Aid Brochure (see it here) the candidate came to the conlcusion that Executive MBA profiles do not have access to financial assistance from IE, and this is not the case.  Read on for clarification as to the difference between Executive Education and Executive MBA programs, and for more information on aid Executive MBAs can apply for.

Why is an Executive MBA not considered Executive Education?

Executive Education, at IE Business School and most other top institutions, is the division of the institution that offers short, non-degree programs that provides training in specific topics on an as-needed basis, for managers and companies.  In contrast, Executive MBA programs are full-lenth, degree programs that cover multiple subjects and have a curriculum based on the 60-ECTS model mandated by the Bologna Accord. Conclusion: Executive Education is a separate division that offers short courses, Executive MBAs are full-length degree programs.

IE Financial Aid and Executive Education Programs

In general, Executive Education programs at IE are not eligible for assistance from IE Financial Aid with the exception of two types of programs: Top Management programs (AMP, SMP, GSMP) and Programas Superiores, and even these two types of programs only have access to student loans when the candidate is a Spanish fiscal resident.  Scholarships and fellowships provided by IE Financial Aid are not available for any Executive Education program.

IE Financial Aid and Executive MBA Programs.

All admitted Executive MBA candidates are eligible to apply for scholarships or an ieCommunities Fellowship.  Also, if the Executive MBA candidate is a Spanish fiscal resident, they can also apply for a student loan from one of our three partner banks.  Conclusion: Executive MBAs have much broader access to financial assistance because they are completing a full degree program.

Does IE Provide Financial Assistance to Executive MBA Students? Yes.

Generally we must use financial assistance funds to support more junior profiles, but every year we receive applications for assistance from excellent Executive MBA candidates from emerging markets and countries where loans and other funding are not available.  And, given the importance we place on managing the class composition because we believe it is a fundamental component of the learning and networking experience at IE, we help a limited number of Executive MBA candidates every year.  If you have an excellent profile, and bring something unique to the classroom learning environment, then apply.
