One of the benefits of being an IE student who also obtains a Fulbright award is that you have twice the network: IE’s global network of 42.000 alumni in 112 countries, and Fulbright’s large network in the US and in several other countries worldwide.

Every year IE receives 3 Fulbright Scholars and as part of their time in Spain these students get to network with other Fulbright grant recipients half way through their program at what is called the Fulbright Midyear Seminar.  To see the video that captured key moments at seminar, check out the YouTube video here (11 minutes).

Forté Foundation events for current MBA Women (2012 & 2013) and for incoming MBA Women (2014)

Forté Foundation is a consortium of major corporations and top business schools that has become a powerful change agent in educating and directing talented women toward leadership roles in business.

Their mission is to provide an increasing number of women with the tools and resources to achieve a successful career in business. The events below serve for such a purpose! Register in before 25th April.

2012 FORTÉ MBA WOMEN’S CONFERENCE
Friday, June 29 – Saturday, June 30
Los Angeles, California

The skills that matter most in business are changing.  Traditionally “feminine” characteristics of compassion, empathy and ethics are finally being recognized as the pathway toward greater corporate responsibility and as the definition of successful corporate leadership.  Women no longer have to change themselves to succeed in business; now they can use their strengths to cross the tipping point in influence, power and leadership.

Attend this conference to:

  • Hobnob with top businesswomen and hear how they combine their uniquely feminine strengths with acute business acumen to lead and grow their organizations
  • Discover why women have an advantage and how we can redefine corporate leadership in this new era
  • Get exclusive access to Fortune 500 recruiters at our company expo
  • Connect with hundreds of women like you who may someday be your colleagues, your links to new jobs, potential investors, and your friends.

Who Can Attend:  Forté Fellows and MBA women that are currently attending Forté sponsor schools (including Fellows alumnae and MBA alumnae who have attended these schools).

Registration Fee: $50 before April 9.  The fee will increase to $99 after April 10; and to $129 After June 11.

Location:  UCLA Anderson School of Management, Los Angeles, CA

As part of a recent IE trip to the UK, the Director of Financial Aid for IE met with BusinessBecause reporter Kate Jillings (see profile here) to talk about the investment that an MBA from an elite school is, and how to go about financing it.

“In the third in our series of ‘Meet the Team’ we go behind-the-scenes with an experienced Financial Aid director to understand what role funding plays in the MBA admissions process. An MBA from a top school, says Joel, is in some ways like a “luxury product experience” and it’s definitely a long-term investment in the future – but what assistance does IE Business School provide to help finance this investment?…”

A recent article from Bloomberg BusinessWeek talks about the worsening student loan situation in the US:

“Students may be struggling with debt more than we knew, according to a team of five researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. They explain that borrowers were late on $85 billion in student loans in the third quarter of 2011, which at face value is about 10 percent of the $870 billion in total outstanding student debt. While that rate is more or less in line with other forms of consumer debt like credit cards and mortgages, it is also “understated,” the team says, because not all student loans can be delinquent…”
